Depression

Nothing makes me depressed faster than looking at old pictures of my baby growing up SO FAST! I got a little nostalgic a couple of weekends ago at Lexi's 4th birthday party. It seems like just YESTERDAY we were at her first birthday party. Madeline was 6 months old. How did time fly by so quickly?!

Lexi at her first birthday party

It was this sweet boy's party too, Karter was 4 I think...he's still that cute!

Sweet Jaxon will be four in a couple of weeks...gosh, they were all SO little and cute!!!

And my sweet baby doing what she does best...eating sugar!

Well, I'm not quite as dedicated to picture taking as I used to be. Not only did I not take my camera, I didn't even bring my phone to Lexi's 4th birthday party. It was a cute bike theme, and all the kids rode their bikes through this cute "car wash" Brianne and Duane made. Well, all the kids except Madeline who chose to hide out in Lexi's room til about 9pm. She did manage to come out for cupcakes...Imagine that. Anyway, at the end of the party Madeline didn't want to go home. Lexi's parents offered for Madeline to spend the night so I said yes. I was 100% sure that I would be getting a call to come get her so I really didn't think much of it. Plus, it was our 11th anniversary so I thought we'd get an hour or so to ourselves. But they never called, Madeline slept through the night, and was less than thrilled to see us at church the next morning. It took her until about 5pm Sunday to forgive me for not letting her move in with Lexi. haha

Brianne texted this picture to me of our sweet girls.

I may or may not have lost it thinking about moving. And I may or may not be crying now. We love our friends and are so thankful to have them in our lives!

Happy Birthday, sweet Lexi and Karter!

Big Things...

It's been an eventful week. So many things happening here in the old apartment! haha

First things first...I found this at the grocery store.

 Be still my beating heart!

I start night shift tonight. Like the drinkI packed? I have tried to get on more of a night schedule but it just hasn't worked. So I know I'm gonna be tired tonight, hence the coffee creamer.

Perhaps even more exciting than Taco Bell's mild sauce in the grocery store is the fact that we're now under contract for the land for our house!!! Closing should be quick and painless with these sellers (long back story on the first lot we made an offer on that most of you who read already know), and we got a good deal. Our lot is the square corner lot - the buzz words are to try to keep our address off the internet. The big dark green space is a lake on a golf course so I think we got a pretty great location! I am SO excited!!!

This is the outside of the house we picked...I REALLY wanted a side garage but it's a major upgrade so I decided I'd rather spend the money on the inside of the house. We had about a 4 hour meeting with our builder over the floor plan, and finally got it the way we want it. We added a half bathroom, but other than that, it's pretty much the same.

Now I have to decide brick colors which is really hard I think because you don't really know what it's all going to look like together. We'll have stucco and brick on the exterior. It's between these three...I think the dark is a little too dark but houses in Florida tend to get rust stains on the outside over time so I'm a little apprehensive to go with a light color.

Finally, Twayne and I aren't the only ones who had a big week! This girl did too but it deserves its own post! :) My crazy girl!

Crazy Love...

Love makes you do crazy things...

Like letting your "sister" dress you for church.

Or like buying your wife a completely tacky, over-sized gold watch just because you knew it'd make her happy. And it really does, vain as that may make me. I look at it and just see love. Well, that a really good clearance deal at Dillard's ;)

Or like going to the zoo on a whim after church and looking at the baby flamingos for way too long. I definitely need a baby flamingo....

Thankful for our little family...lots of love lately here! :)

The Best Day...

Last Tuesday Madeline and I had a day of fun. I wanted to do something special for her since she's been through a lot with me going back to work and the move all at the same time. So we started our day getting a pedicure. It was her first one where they actually did the whole thing, and she was so good. I was shocked that she was so still! It was adorable!

We had a quick lunch at McAllister's and then headed to the city pool. Madeline was on cloud 9 the whole time we were there. She had so much fun!!!

Working long hours can be exhausting, but I love that I only work 3 days a week and the rest is pretty much time spent with this sweet girl! Well, and Terry too! :)

99 Problems...

Well, the rock saga continues. We went to the pediatrician last week, and there is still something in Madeline's forehead. He said they could do an xray to try to determine what it is but its so small they more than likely wouldn't be able to tell. Or he said they could cut her head open to see but that exposes her to infection, scarring etc. The third option was to leave it alone and see what happens. So I chose option #3. The doctor said he's pretty sure its one of two things: blood pooled under skin or a rock. Either way, time will take care of it. Her body will eventually reject the rock or the pool of blood will dissolve eventually.

So I chose option #3... wait and see. I don't want to cut her head open unnecessarily so I figured we should just wait it out and Terry agreed. But my sweet girl is so big, and she really loves going to the doctor. Sometimes I think I should worry that she loves going so much...maybe it just means she has a future in healthcare!

Moving...

I think every time we move, I have forgotten how bad it sucks! And not to be a complainer because San Angelo really does need the rain, but this is what our moving day looked like!

It is a true miracle that I didn't break anything, bones I mean...I slipped about 18 times that day but only had about 6 bruises and one big cut when it was all over! haha I am not the most coordinated on a good day, but add in pouring rain, uhaul ramps, and heavy furniture and I'm an ER visit waiting to happen! It was a looooong weekend, but Twayne and I make quite the team these days!

Now our apartment...I don't want to sound ungrateful because we do have a roof over our heads. However, there's a slight odor when you walk in the building. Kinda like a cat died with a cigarette in its mouth right after it peed on the floor. Is that too graphic? It doesn't smell in our apartment though so that's good. But the carpet is gross, and we had a major leak in the wall of the kitchen the second day we were here and had to wait for maintenance and then a plumber all day the next day.

But the beauty of an apartment is you don't pay for it!!! Yay! And the management was really nice, and waived our pet deposit, which was a lot so I was okay with that! They also said since our carpet is in less than desirable shape that we're guaranteed to move out without owing anything - they even put it in writing for me. So it all worked out.

Here's the big reveal...

We didn't leave the mirror like that...Terry just thought he'd be funny. There's actually nothing on any of the walls because I don't want to cover holes when we leave. It's just easier not to hang anything!

And the wall of mirrors!!!! My favorite part of the apartment!

We're pretty much all setttled now. It's a little crowded, but honestly its really not that bad. I can clean the whole apartment top to bottom in about 30 minutes! There's no maintenance, and of course the pool. I think we've been swimming at least every other day since we've been here. It's just what we do now!

We finally got our internet hooked up and working right this past week so hopefully, I can catch up on blogging! :)
